Hometalk generates more revenue through SearchIQ Search Ad
Key Takeaways
The Challenge
Hometalk, the largest online community of home and garden DIYers, realized that they are not generating as much revenue as they could. To drive incremental revenue, they partnered with SearchIQ to add search ads with guaranteed returns to find hidden value by better engaging their users with their site search that wasn’t being monetized.
Our Solution
Hometalk wanted the user’s search experience on their site to be seamless. The partnership with SearchIQ did just that, and helped to populate the publisher’s search box with the most relevant keywords for their users. Because of how the publisher’s existing search functionality was architected, they kept their search results in place. SearchIQ provided an ad relevant to what the user was typing with a footer JavaScript integration. By placing code into the site’s footer, one of a handful of script placement options that was right for them, and only firing if the user clicks into the search box, Hometalk began generating revenue across a breadth of keywords across all pages with no additional technical integration.
The Results
The integration creates incremental revenue for Hometalk with optional integration choices, a better user experience for high-intent customers, and predictable revenue. The Javascript only fires upon user interaction and did not affect site load time. Due to the successful implementation of SearchIQ’s Autocomplete integration, SearchIQ is now working to integrate Hometalk’s sister publication.
